Lounging the horse is not a way to make your horse tired before you get on and ride, it’s, instead, a very important moment of training horses. When lounging your horse, you do not only work on connection and communication refinement, but you can do even more. If you ride your horse, proper gymnastic and training is one of your main responsibilities. The horse must be not only mentally/emotionally able to work with you but also physically. Mental/emotional and physical balance are strongly connected, and one cannot exist without the other. A lot of work can be done on the ground before riding the horse, in terms of mental/emotional and physical balance. This workshop will guide you to understand:
The main priority of your horse:
– Your horse asymmetry and his needs in terms of balance
– Which exercises are important to improve his balance and work through his asymmetry (these exercises can be then translated under saddle during your riding)
– Eventual resistance or behavioral issues shown by the horse during the exercises – Lounging exercises will be explore and if needed also bit work exercises.

Nicoló invites you to watch his training session with his horse Karisma, where you can not only observe how he works with him both ground work and riding, but you can also ask questions! Explanation is given while he performs exercises with the horse.

The clinic is in total 3 days. There will be 6 hours of training per day, shared between morning and afternoon, alternating theory, simulations, practice with the horse under saddle and on the ground.
The program is organized in a way that both people who knows and do not know Parelli can join. Western or English saddle makes no difference.
The main goal of the clinic is to learn the correct communication with the horse, to prevent or solve eventual problems with the horse or to emphasize the quality of the horse, besides the activities that horse and rider do together.
The course is based on the principles of Natural Horsemanship and on studying the 4 themes of the Parelli programs:
– Online: working on the ground with ropes of different length
– Freestyle: riding without snaffle
– Liberty: playing on the ground without line
– Finesse: riding with the snaffle and the contact
Cost
– 450EUR 3 days clinic with your own horse
– 470EUR 3 days clinic with a FTH horse
– 30EUR a day stable/accommodation for the horse (all inclusive) (to be payed directly to the Fair to Horses)

Franco has been a Parelli Instructor since 2000 (the first one in Italy and now the only 5 Star rated in Italy). He studied in the USA and Australia with Pat, Linda and other Master Parelli Instructors. He’s dedicated to helping people live their dreams, achieving confident and responsive horses, whether they’re on the trail or in a competition arena. He lives in Rome but teaches Parelli clinics, from level 1 to 4, and colt starting courses throughout Italy. Franco loves training young horses, offering them the best possible beginning, but also horses with special needs (so-called “problem horses”) to get them a second chance. He is also particularly interested in bridging the gap between natural horsemanship and performance riding: there is no contradiction! That is why he cooperates with many professional riders. Franco has performed in shows across Italy and Europe with his five horses and mules.
Komend jaar organiseren we meerdere buitenritten bij Fair to Horses. De groepen worden begeleid door Romi Grotenhuis in het mooie natuurgebied van de Rotte Meren in Bleiswijk. De groepen bestaan afhankelijk van het aantal inschrijvingen uit maximaal 7 personen.

Marta Rovituso will work with you on the bit-work in hand, as training method for your horse. Often horses are against the hands, or they have anxiety for it, as a resistance to a strong and painful pressure in the mouth which they do not understand. Sometimes, under saddle, you experience your horse tensing up during an exercise and it’s difficult to explore the cause. The bit work in hand, helps the horses to regain trust in the hand, to understand the meaning of different pressures, and it helps the rider to develop the right feel, right attitude, and the feel of the horse movement through the horse mouth. The bit work in hand is a very powerful tool, which can explain and teach the horse all the work which will be then performed under saddle. In walk and trot, you can ask all different head positions and exercises, as straight flexion, counter-bend, shoulder-in, travers, half-pass, up to the collection.
During this day you will have the occasion to work extensively on the bit work with your horse or a school horse on an individual session, practice different exercises depending on your level and the level of the horse and getting a deeper understand on the details related to feel the mouth of the horse and its response to different pressure.
Prices of the clinic:

Marta is a trainee instructor of EDL and a Centered Riding instructor of Level I which started horse riding and training with Nicolò Ballatore in 2017. The horses and the Ecole de Légerèté philosophy became immediately her biggest passion and drive in life, which brought her to dedicate everyday hours of horse training to it, to get a deeper and better understanding of the philosophy and the tools. Always supported and supervised by Nicolò, she started some horses in training, or continuing the work started by Nicolò, giving her the possibility to explore and apply the philosophy on different type horses. Her main experience on the bit-work was to re-educate horses to the hand and to explain the bit from the ground to then translating under saddle.
Op maandag 21 juli en dinsdag 22 juli 2025 geeft Alyssa Pellei weer een tweedaagse clinic bij Fair to Horses.
Alyssa Pellei (Hongarije) combineert de klassieke rijkunst en hogere dressuur met haar grootste passie: werken in vrijheid met haar paarden. Tijdens deze tweedaagse clinic neemt ze jou mee tot in de kleinste details in Liberty, waardoor je een heldere en zuivere communicatie krijgt met jouw paard.

Melanie en Amber geven op 2 juli 2023 bij Fair to Horses de cursus – Alles over Hoeven.
Wil jij alles leren over het zelf kunnen onderhouden van jouw paard zijn hoeven? Dan is de cursus ’alles over hoeven’ perfect voor jou!
In de ochtend starten we met theorie. Hier leer je alles van anatomie tot onderhoud en het creëeren van de juiste omstandigheden voor een gezonde hoef. Na de lunch is het tijd om zelf aan de slag te gaan. Je leert hoe je het gereedschap het beste kunt gebruiken en we oefenen op echte paarden.
Je krijgt van ons een boekje waar notities in gemaakt kunnen worden (en daar staat nog meer handige informatie in!). Bekapmateriaal kan geleend worden en indien gewenst nadien aangeschaft.
Het is mogelijk om tijdens de cursus de bekapset aan te schaffen. De tang kost €70,-, de vijl kost €30,- en de messen kosten €30,-.
Het is belangrijk om te weten dat je na deze cursus GEEN zelfbekapper bent. Je leert de hoeven bij te houden tot de volgende keer bekappen van jouw paard.
Na deze dag ontvang je een bewijs van deelname en het informatiemateriaal.
Tijd De dag start om 10:00. Er is pauze rond 12:30 en de dag eindigt rond 16:00.
Eigen paard Wil jij jouw eigen paard meenemen? Neem hierover even contact op. Dan zorgen we dat er een box of paddock beschikbaar is.

Come to discover the Ecole de Légèreté of Philip Karl together with Nicolò Ballatore at our training center Fair to Horses in Bleiswijk.
The clinic consists of three days (riders will ride two days on Saturday & Sunday or Sunday & Monday) where you will have a full immersion in the EDL philosophy with individual lessons of about 45-55 minutes. During each lesson Nicolò explains theory concepts to help a better understanding. At the end of the day there is a roundup where you can ask questions. Everybody is welcome with your own horse or a Fair to Horses Horse.
We kindly ask you to send us in an e-mail for the subscription of the clinic where you indicate the age of the horse, what was the life of the horse past and present, what is the main goal of your riding, and indicate eventual main issues you encounter with your horse.

Nicolò is an Italian horse trainer of the Italian Federation, who embraced the philosophy of Philip Karl more than 20 years ago. Already being a Level III instructor of the Federation, Nicolò became a Level II instructor of the Ecole de Légèreté in 2014. Since he became an instructor of EDL, Nicolò’s primary goal is to teach this philosophy to improve the quality of life of horses and riders. Since he got his degree, Nicolò gets a yearly update during the instructor course in Italy, and he continues growing into EDL.
Wil je leren hoe je een paard veilig kunt trailerladen? Krijg je jouw paard geladen op de heenreis, maar lukt het jou niet meer op de terugreis? Of loopt de spanning zo hoog op dat je jouw paard helemaal niet geladen krijgt? Dan is de workshop trailerladen perfect voor jou.
Tijdens de tweedaagse op 18 en 19 mei 2023 krijg je van Romi Grotenhuis veel vaardigheden aangeboden zodat je aan het eind van die tweedaagse jouw paard of een paard van Fair to Horses veilig op en af de trailer krijgt. Er is ruimte voor 4 combinaties en er wordt 1 à 2 uur per dag per combinatie gewerkt aan het trailerladen. De andere tijd leer je enorm veel van het observeren.
Het programma start beide dagen om 10.00 uur en duurt tot uiterlijk 17.00 uur. Tijdens deze dagen is koffie, thee, water en een gezonde lunch inbegrepen.

Dit zijn een paar vragen die we regelmatig krijgen tijdens lessen en trainingen. We merken dat er meer behoefte is aan uitleg over hoe er gewerkt wordt met de paarden. Waar werken we naar toe? Welke training werkt voor mijn paard?
Fair to Horses is een trainingscenter en hierbij hoort een actieve deelname aan trainingen en lessen in het belang van het verbeteren van alle gebruikspaarden, van Shetlander tot Fries.
Met de themalessen wil Romi Grotenhuis samen met Nicolò Ballatore en Marta Rovituso bewustwording creëren en kennis overbrengen aan alle klanten van Fair to Horses. Het maakt daarbij niet uit of je net start of dat je al jaren aan het trainen bent met jouw paard.
Let op tijdstip is anders! De eerstvolgende vindt plaats op: zondag 29 oktober 2023 om 14.00 uur. Onderwerp: “The horse in collection”. Aanmelden kan hier.
Voorafgaand aan een training is het heel belangrijk om te weten op welk niveau jij als ruiter zit. Daarnaast is het ook goed om te weten welk niveau jouw paard heeft. Op deze manier weet je of jouw training vooral de basiselementen bevat bij een jong en/of onervaren paard of dat jouw paard al verder is en je meer verdieping kunt toepassen in het rijden of grondwerken.
Als je benieuwd bent naar jouw niveau als ruiter en het niveau van jouw paard, dan is het bijwonen van deze themalessen zeer waardevol.
Wij kijken ernaar uit iedereen met deze nieuwe vorm verder te brengen in de communicatie met de paarden en op deze manier een waardevol pakket aan informatie te bieden om iedereen te motiveren verder te groeien.

De seminars zijn op zondagen van 11.00-12.30 uur. Aansluitend is er een lunch waarvoor je je kunt opgeven. Deze gezonde lunch inclusief koffie of thee, kost €10,-, en is grotendeels vega. We kunnen uiteraard rekening houden met dieetwensen.
Heb je (één van) themalessen gemist? Geen probleem! Deze themalessen komen in de toekomst online beschikbaar. Tot die tijd kun je instromen in de themalessen.
Voor deze themalessen is de minimumleeftijd 16 jaar. De lessen worden gegeven in het Engels en daarom is een goede beheersing van de Engelse taal handig om alle lesstof goed te kunnen opnemen. Voor extra uitleg is Romi aanwezig om te vertalen.
Na afloop van elk seminar is er ruimte voor vragen en discussie.

Voor klanten met een paard in training, instructeurs en medewerkers van Fair to Horses zijn de lessen inbegrepen.
Voor lesklanten, vrijwilligers en geïnteresseerden van buitenaf is het €15,- per les inclusief btw en €25,- per les met lunch inclusief btw.
